Growing up I was a huge fan of New Kids On The Block! I loved those guys and I had a crush on each one, but Danny was my favorite! My parents didn’t allow my sisters and I to have their music in our homes because of our faith. My sisters and I were sneaky though, we brought their cassette tapes in under the cover, “It’s their Christmas album”! It worked! I also hid their posters inside my closet behind my clothes. Where there is a will there is a way! I soon outgrew them.
The other day I had a dream about them! I was at a coffee shop with some friends and New Kids On The Block walked in. They were older. I was at the back of the coffee shop and Jordan and Danny walked to the back to use the washroom. A lady (my age) ran up to them and asked if she could have her picture with Jordan. Clearly a huge fan! They took a picture. She was so excited and I said to her, “Isn’t it amazing how you have always wanted a picture with Jordan since you were young, and it was a dream of yours and it’s NOW getting fulfilled when you are older. It was never forgotten.” That was the dream!
Earlier that week I heard someone speak about the dreams we have had in our hearts since we were little, and that God does not forget about them. So it made me wonder what dreams did I have when I was little. I believe that led to the dream.
I feel like the dreams and hopes we have had, that haven’t yet been fulfilled and are still in our hearts (almost buried), and yet God hasn’t forgotten about them. He still wants to fulfill them. I was about to write, ”Obviously the dreams where you wanted to meet New Kids On The Block, or equivalent aren’t the dreams I am talking about..”, but then I quickly heard God say, “Yes, even those types of dreams.” I believe that if it matters to you, if there is meaning behind your hopes and dreams, no matter what they are or how crazy they are, why wouldn’t they matter to God? What if He wanted to fulfill the dreams of wanting to meet NKOTB, or Katy Perry, or taking pictures and hearing the stories of people that the world has forgotten (my dream!), or seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa (another dream of mine), or have a meal with a family that lives in a remote location in Mongolia….what if God wants to fulfill those dreams because the only reason is that He loves you. He’s a good and generous Father who loves to give good gifts to His children. By Him fulfilling dreams that have been in your heart for a long time and the ones that you may forgotten, wouldn’t that show you how intricate and detailed He is. Wouldn’t you stand in awe? If one of my friends remembers something I told them a long time ago, it makes me feel so valued, heard and it actually really builds my trust with them. I consider their friendship high level.
I just feel to encourage the one that is reading this to stop and think of the dreams that you have had since you were little, and if you can’t, ask God to remind you of the ones that He wants to fulfill. I am on this journey as well. I am searching my heart for the dreams that I have had, the ones I let slip away or the ones I have shrouded in “this is foolish”. When dreams are fulfilled we become people who walk on a ground of hope and possibilities because we have seen God fulfill the deepest desires. We become unstoppable. We dare to dream bigger and take risks that others would think absurd because we have seen the the “Dream Maker” at work!
